I'm 99 44/100% sure you will find double black. The zebra models are sold separately, and seemingly, harder to find.

When I took the cover off of my BB the coils were black.

They'll most likely be black.

Today zebras always come uncovered, they never have covers. Back in the late 50s the Gibson supplier of plastic ran out of black plastic, so for a while cream plastic was substituted. The black and cream bobbin were used side by side, and the zebra pickups were invented. In those days they all had covers, it wasn't untill latter that guitarists started removing them in search for a different sound, and the zebras were discovered.

Well , I only build about 500 of the things a day in the Nashville plant... They can be cream, clear ,or black , never know until you peek under that cover.... But most likely , they will be black....

AH so by chance you could get the clear ones like the smoky coils? Is it only the BB's or are the 57's included in the game of chance?

Thanks for the inside info by the way.
