rlouie
Hey folks I haven't logged in for awhile, and it's with anger and sadness that I post this thread. All my acoustic guitars were stolen from my house this last Tuesday the 5th............taken were my 2005 Martin HD28 serial number 1144565 and my Taylor GSRS 20061025161, a 1999 Seagull S6 acoustic and an Epiphone classical, a few other small items were taken but it seems as though once they spotted the guitars they stopped rummaging through the house and ran.................it looks like homeowners is going to cover it which helps ease the pain a bit, but the violated feeling still lingers. If you are an ebay watcher and you come across these guitars please contact me at rlouie@hotmail.com or over at the AGF as I am a frequent poster there. Here are a couple of pics.......any help would be appreciated............thanks Louie aka rlouie
guitarstrummer
Sorry that happened. You might also check Craigslist. I've heard of stolen guitars showing up there from time to time. I'm assuming you already filed a police report, but you might also personally contact all of the pawnshops in your area and give them descriptions of your guitars. Gilliangirl
Oh louie that's horrible. I'm so sorry to hear of this news. I have had my house broken into a few times so I can appreciate that 'violated' feeling. It takes awhile to go away but it will. I hope the guitars show up. Having the serial numbers and pictures is a wise thing. Will keep an eye open for them. I'm always browsing eBay.

davidbg63
Sorry to hear about your loss, will keep eyes out on the net as well. One thing we all need to remember is be sure to have the serial numbers, pictures and any additional documentation. I made sure my homeowners knew about my guitars when I last changed policies, they have the guitar info on file as well.

L5Larry
Sorry to hear about the theft. I've had a couple guitars stolen over the years and you never stop looking for them. Hopefully your will turn up quickly. Something for everyone to be aware of, most homeowner's policies have a limited "maximum" amout of coverage for musical instruments, just as with jewelry. You must have policy "rider" declaring make, model, serial number, written appraisal, etc, to be sure you are fully covered. This may also increase your premium. Another thing to be aware of is that your standard homeowner's policy does not cover your guitars if they are stolen from a gig, only if they are stolen from your house, and maybe your car if they were not in there for "professional" purposes. If you are a working professional musician it takes a separate special policy to cover your gear, and those are fairly cost prohibitive for most of us working stiffs. rlouie
thanks for all the kind words folks..............I have covered all the bases with a police report, Craigslists ad, called all the local pawnshops and the local guitar shops.............I have a strange feeling that I have not seen the last of these guitars, don't ask me why, maybe I'm still in denial and it's just wishful thinking, but you gotta hang on to something.....anyway thanks again.......................... nodehopper
I know how violated it feels, but do look on the bright side that they stopped ransacking after grabbing the guitars. Sounds as though Insurance will come through. I am sure you have family and /or other things that are truly irreplaceable. There is also the positive that no one was home and no one was hurt. Perhaps as you said they saw the cool guitars and were satisfied.....but I would be suspicious and I have to suggest though that with the specificity of the theft there is a strong suggestion that was what they were there for...which means you know or someone you know ...knows the perpetrator. My Aunt and Uncle had a fairly significant coin collection ....they answered the door around Xmas time thinking they would be greeted by carolers only to be beaten and tied up while two masked assailants ransacked the house searching and asking specifically for the coin collection. My Uncle quickly told them to stop the beating. They took the entire collection and nothing else. Long story short....... their Son had shown off the collection to one of his High School Buddies who told his older brother. He enlisted another buddy and by the time the cops showed up at thier door (just 2 blocks away) The coins were sold and gone....I can't remember now if the guys were convicted. I hate to suggest this ....but if I were you I would ask friends and family if they have mentioned your guitars to anyone new to them or if anyone has taken any interest in your guitars or if you have recently talked to someone you have recently met about your guitars. I hope you get them back....I know that even if I got the exact model as replacement ...there would still be a huge hole in my arms when I played them....until time had gone and I made the new ones my old ones. Lucky Boy
I had a similiar thing happen many years ago and my guitar was never recovered. Let's hope that your guitars are. You'll be in my prayers.
econtras
Sorry this happened to you and your family. I hope they catch the thugs responsible for your loss. I'll keep an eye out for you. I believe that nodehopper's theory is worthy of some deep consideration, seems fishy that they would go straight for the guitars. Best of luck! TWilson
rlouie-getting ripped off just plain sucks! I've had it happen to about 5 vehicles in my life but no guitars as yet. It's a very helpless feeling not to be able to make those responsible PAY for what they did. It's a real violation. I hope whoever did it loses a finger on their fretting hand and two on their picking hand!!!
