jrplefty
Hello all, I'm in the Fort Collins area of Colorado and I will be boning my J-45 in the next couple of weeks. I am looking for a respectable and well qualified tech to complete this transition for me. My dad has had bad experiences with a couple of local luthiers, which I will be avoiding. I'm hoping some of you folks are in the area and can give me some of your experiences. I am close to Wildwood which I know is a reputable Gibson dealer, but haven't heard anything about their technical abilities. An Any thoughts, recommendations, and experiences are appreciated. Jeremy Woodsong's in Boulder is great - I live in Aurora, and that's a pretty good drive for me, but Wildwood recommended them when I had a new bone nut put on the SJ-200 I had bought from them. They are Gibson authorized, and did a wonderful job on mine. It's a custom shop AAA quilted maple model, and I was very worried about nicks and scratches. The guitar was very close to mint going in, and came out in exactly the same condition but with the new nut - installed looking better than the stock one, and cut perfectly. I highly recommed them. jrplefty
Thanks for heads up on Woodsong. On further conversation with my dad he mentioned he had heard one of the luthiers from there had gone to Todd's in Longmont. Do you know anything about that, or do you know anybody that has had work done at Todd's in the past year or so? Boulder is probably just as far of a drive for me as it is for you, but when it comes to high end guitars it's worth it to avoid sub par performance and risk getting my instrument back in worst shape than I left it. Jeremy No, I don't know about that, and I'm not familiar with Todd's at all. Good luck to you!
