sneakerpimp
not claiming to be true vintage or anything... just sayin'. i've had her for a little over a year now and spent most of that time (and some money) dressing her up right: ABR-1 conversion, Gotoh aluminum tailpiece, Hipshot Xtender, custom 3-ply pickguard with black screws, 1-ply blank trussrod cover, period-correct pre-owned chrome Grover tulip tuners, relic'd knob pointers, white switch tip. ...looking forward to many more years with her! I know...they're not Gibson's, but their still my "babies!" CB

bonzoboy
The sight of Ricky 320s,325s,350s and 360/12s causes major GAS pains.Your Rickys are exquisite C.B. and I will have one or the other with toaster pups as soon as I have enough money saved up from my quit smoking fund. Can't wait to plug into my Voxes and jangle away. BTW my Hagstrom Corvette will be 50 next year.

CB - Very nice Rics. . thanks for the kind words fellas. the hipshot is incredibly simple. takes some time to fine tune it and you need to lube the nut. it really works and make tuning back and forth to drop D a lot faster and easier. charlie brown
Thanks, guys...didn't intend to "hijack" the thread, from "SG's." Was just responding, to 30 year old guitars. CB
sneakerpimp
^^^no worries sir, that was indeed my original intent, hence the lack of 'SG' in the thread title.
Lungimsam
Those Rics have aged sweetly. They make me think of Paul Kantner from Jefferson Airplane and his Ric guitars.
charlie brown
Those Rics have aged sweetly. They make me think of Paul Kantner from Jefferson Airplane and his Ric guitars. Thanks, I'm one of "those" people, who has a tendency to "baby" their gear! Always have been. But, they ARE played, almost daily, especially the 12-strings! The "Miami" 320 isn't played that often, but...now and then. I think it's because of the type music we do, more than anything. It's a great little guitar, even if the short (3/4) scale, takes a bit of getting used to. So, yeah...they're in great condition, really...especially for their age. We do a couple of old "Jefferson Airplane" songs (White Rabbit, Somebody To Love), and several "Bryds" tunes, too. So, they come in handy, for those. RRIDER
This is my 40 yr old ES 335. And this one is actually one of my favorites to play..It will be 48 yrs old in 2012. It is a 1964 Silvertone 1446 made by Harmony guitars. It came stock with Gibson mini humbuckers. My wife's dad bought it new, and I've had it for over 33 yrs. milod
Actually until this past year my "main" guitars all were 30+ years old. The 175, Guild S199c, steel and nylon early '70s Ovation AE boxes and a '50s Harmony single pickup archtop. I'm like CB in that I really baby my guitars. m
Gaolee
There's joy in maintaining old equipment in good repair and renewing old things instead of throwing them out. My oldest piece of equipment is a 63 year old amp, and my oldest instrument is a 61 year old piano. My bass is 43, and my current guitar project is 28. The guitar is a youngster, but at least it is old enough to go into a bar with me. The only one I abuse is a Fender P-Bass. It's new but it's a plank, so it is meant to be knocked around a bit. It's fake old, but in 30 years, chances are I'll still have it, assuming I'm still around. Then it will be old for real. Come to think of it, two of 'em are in my avatar - both the bass and the amp are 43.

charlie brown
Well, ok...more of My "over 30's!" 1954 Gibson J-160E...the only year, prior to Bozeman versions, that had a "solid" (non-laminated) top! 1964 Fender "L" series Strat, purchased new, by my Mom, for my 14th birthday. 1966 Gretsch Country Gentleman (including, the all too common "binding rot," in spite of my "Babying!") 1966 Epiphone Casino (refinished, in 1980...if you'd have seen it, you'd know why!) LOL 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe ("Stock," save the Grovers)purchased (barely) "used," in 1977. 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom (with "cream" plastic, and TP6 Tailpiece added)...otherwise "Stock!" buliwyf
That makes my 1978 Gibson L6-s 33 years old does that make it vintage? I really never thought being 33 years old was that old for an axe, does it make a guitar worth any more money. Checkout this 1957 Gibson LP and the video they put with it OMG. If I won the lottery would I grab this, what a sweet sound from an origional 57 gibby. http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/electric/gibson-vintage-used/les-paul/gibson-les-paul-gold-top-1957/
