Geoffrey Lawton
I currently own a Fuller's 1939 J35 Reissue. Great guitar - a true keeper if there ever was one. I'm considering buying a J45 TV and am wondering if any of you can give me your impressions of how the 2 compare. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a TV around my area to A/B it against my J35. Obviously I don't want to replicate what I already have. Any insights/impressions/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Geoff
modoc_333
The J35 is more dry and direct. the 45 TV has more overtones and harmonics. neither is better, just different.... but VERY different.

I have both. I agree with what modac_333 says above, except I would slightly hesitate to describe the difference in sound as "VERY different." In my mind, there's difference enough that we Gibsonites would notice and appreciate, but I'm not so sure about the average Joe listener. They are like two brothers. One is little more wiry and rambunctious (the J-35); the other is a little more smooth and polished (the J-45 TV). While you wouldn't mistake them for identical twins, you see the strong family resemblance just the same. I love 'em both. If you have the means and the desire, I heartily recommend both. Happy New Year! Red
pfox14
Can you post pix of your 1939 reissue? Would love to see it. Did they get the pickguard right on it? I've seen a few Fuller's reissues like the AJ, that have totally incorrect PGs. Some even flush with the edge of the soundhole?
