kreator_ Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hello, guys! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battered-but-eminently-playable-Gibson-Les-Paul-Studio-/200692579228?_trksid=p5197.m1374&_trkparms=algo%3DPI.WATCH%26otn%3D12%26po%3DLCA%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5302533617327952993 This is something interesting and cheap, but I dont know if its real...the machineheads are odd too...Thanks! :)
WishIStillHadThatOne Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Think it is a studio lite. I had one in vintage Sunburst way back when. Had gold hardware and the mini tuners. I still have the tuners. I put on gold kluson style tuners.
Eracer_Team Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 That has to be the worst headstock repair I've ever seen in my life. I wouldn't go near that guitar for 2pounds let alone the $120pounds he's asking for
Johnny 6 String Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hello, guys! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battered-but-eminently-playable-Gibson-Les-Paul-Studio-/200692579228?_trksid=p5197.m1374&_trkparms=algo%3DPI.WATCH%26otn%3D12%26po%3DLCA%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5302533617327952993 This is something interesting and cheap, but I dont know if its real...the machineheads are odd too...Thanks! :) Looks real enough, although it's been rode hard and put away wet way too many times for me to go near it (or to recommend that anyone else pay good money for it, if it was free maybe). Guy is actually being honest in the listing, mentions the brutal head stock repair "that can easily been seen that it happened" and he also mentions the water damage.
Gary Moore Tribute Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I'd buy it for parts NOT for the Guitar, the bodies had it...
kreator_ Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Yeah, bad thing im not from UK,is there a way to fix such a guitar?I mean that brutal crack on the neck..?
Gary Moore Tribute Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Yeah, bad thing im not from UK,is there a way to fix such a guitar?I mean that brutal crack on the neck..? Yes it can be but it costs £200-300 to repair properly, after this profit on a studio is ZERO so its not even worth it.
stein Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 It does look like a studio lite, judging from the knobs and tuners, as well as the color. But, I certainly can't tell for sure that it isn't a regular studio model. A studio Lite would be made of different woods. I don't know enough about them to be able to say which ones had what woods, but it would be significant. It could have the balsa inserts in the body, and/or have a different top. It looks like it might be a good project, or a candidate for a refinish. It is hard to tell the quality of the headstock repair from the pics-it looks like what I might expect to see if it was properly done, just not cosmetically finished at the time, or it could have also suffered there from the water damage. If someone was buying a guitar that need any significant amount of work as a way to get a bargain or save money, I don't think it is really is likely for any guitar. But if one has the skills, OR has a luthier/repair guy that he likes his work and wants to find something to do work on, a couple hundred bucks (or pounds) is not a big loss.
