Kineman Karma Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 G'day Ya'll Well pretty soon I will be picking up my Tele but shortly after that I am looking at picking up either a LP Classic Custom in Ebony or a Midtown Custom in a Vintage Sunburst. Which one would you pick up and why? Cheers and Happy New Year
charlie brown Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 The Midtown! I already have a "Classic Custom!" Seriously...YOU need to go play both, and decide which one works best, for you! They're both great guitars...IMHO. CB
cjmwrx Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Classic Custom, not much needs to be explained there. I can't imagine a dual f hole Gibson that's not an arch-top. Though the Midtown is a nice guitar. Would much rather save my ducks for an ES 335 with 57 Classics.
Malchik Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I like the Midtown better. The Les Paul is a Les Paul; you have many of them, while the Midtown is something both new and old.
badbluesplayer Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I just don't think the Midtown is going to last in its present form. I don't forsee the model taking off until they start using some kind of wood for the fretboard. The Midtown custom is especially cheesy with the custom appointments but still with a richlite fretboard. All because Henry can't play nice with the wood police. The Classic Custom, on the other hand, seems to me to be a winner. Just my opinion.
btoth76 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Hello Kineman! Happy new year to all of You! As I can remember You have a beautyful Norlin-era Custom, and You recently bought "Dotty". Why would You buy the Classic Custom or the Midtown then? If You ask me I would get something different if was in Your shoes. An L6-S maybe? Cheers... Bence P.S.: I have one Classic Custom AN on preorder. (but I never had any Customs before :))
