El Be Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Hello, I'm new here. I tried searching for this topic but am getting no hits, so I apologize if this has been asked before. I wold like to remove the pickguard from my Epiphone Special-II GT but I don't see any screws. Is it glued on the guitar? and if so, if I take it to a music shop, can they have it removed for me? Thank you in advance for your help. Happy New Year.
animalfarm Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-special-ii-gt-electric-guitar Looking at the MF Pic above, I fear it HAS been glued on over your Poly finish. Attempting to remove will most likely result in damage. Only two suggestions, 1. Take BLACK magic marker and "black out" the white stripe so no-one notices. 2. use hair dryer and putty knife, heat glue to gently break bond, then CAREFULLY pry off. Don't really recommend this due to potential to ruin underlying finish. I've seen threads where folks ADDED a Pickguard, but never the reverse. I'd probably just leave it.
