Andyroo
I have a Les Paul Studio which I bought second hand in the mid - late 80's. It has the 'dot' type fret markers which isn't that unusual but what is strange is one of the fret marker dots (on the edge, not the face of the fingerboard) is missing. Its at the 12th fret where one dot is positioned off centre to allow room for the other one which just isn't there. The fact that it isn't there doesn't bother me - after all I've had the guitar for 20+ years and I've no plans to correct it. I'm more curious to find out if its considered to be a 'rarity'
Fixr1984
Can you post picures of it? Sounds like you might have a Studio Custom or a Studio standard.
StijnV
A "rarity" is a big word, but it can occur of course.
Andyroo
Thanks for your thoughts. I have photos on my computer (jpgs), but can't attach them - 'not allowed to upload this kind of file' or something similar. Any guidance appreciated
Fixr1984
You first need to upload the photos to photobucket or something similar and then post the url in the reply box.

damian
Andyroo.......Yup....Mike T. was putting the dots on that day; He was filling in for Rob, the regular dot guy........ Mike T. went back to the fret installing dept when Rob came back....All is well now............ It is unusual, but does not add any special collector value per se............ Guest rogerb
It appears to be a regular studio with dot inlay, unusual to have a side marker missing however.
