VoltageGuitarist Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Hello, I‘m planning to buy a GIBSON Firebird VII Cherry Lyre Vibrola, but I‘m not quite sure. Many reviews say that it does‘t play like a real Gibson, others say that it‘s unique and that it is the best Gibson. Is it a good choise to buy it? And what are the ups and downs? Greetz.
StijnV Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Up: lighter in weight in comparison to Les Paul Reissues especially Down: pickups are only mini-humbuckers, bit less choice in tone tange
VoltageGuitarist Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 It looks awesome too ;D It feels like an SG, that's what I want .... PS: Does someone know the price of it? I just read that it is out of production....
pfox14 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Definitely heavier than an SG. Plays differently than any other Gibson. Seen them in the $2500 range used. New ones are not available as far as I know.
VoltageGuitarist Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Do you know where you can buy them 2nd hand? On ebay there's no one....
pfox14 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I saw a couple on gbase.com, but no cherry ones. There was a burgundy sparkle for $2500 - http://www.gbase.com/gear/gibson-firebird-7-2000-sparkle-burgandy and a custom shop all cardinal red: http://www.gbase.com/gear/gibson-custom-shop-firebird-v-2005-cardinal-r Plus the best price for the one you are looking for is here: http://www.gbase.com/gear/gibson-2004-firebird-vii-reissue-2004-reissue Used 2004 model
