I'm thinking anything in liquid form is going to attract dust and gum things up even more ! Dry lubrication actually sounds like the way to go. I'll have to check around where it might be available. I'm thinking you local locksmith should have some on hand ? What you want is the one called "Superior Dry Lubricant". There are a number of similar products, such as McLube. These have a liquid vehicle to help them flow, but that flashes off to leave an essentailly dry film behind.
