Looking for a deeper sounding Guitar

I own mostly Gibson and Epiphone guitars. But for my new CD I'm looking for some deeper Basie sounds to fill in the backs of the songs. I love the P-90's and know that Gibson has the best, but I'm looking for a different P-90 sound. I've heard some nice ones on the Internet that I'm looking at made by other companies, But I'm looking into other tone woods for this project like Alder or Basswood. So I'm hoping to get some good feedback to hear the knowledge flow on this subject.

If you truly mean 'Basie' sounds, then that is mostly acoustic jazz archtop 'comping'

Not a P90 in sight.....lol...!

Do you have a target sound to compare to?.....

I'll find out today. My new guitar is supposed to show up with the Fed X Man. Maybe this is the guitar I've been looking for. It's an Alden Jazz Link Guitar, I'll see. I also just ate 40 years of CROW. I've been Cussed, Throwen off Forums and got into a couple of fights because I think the Les Paul guitar is the most Ugly guitar out there and I swore I'd never own one. Well I just bought one . Made from the same people as the Jazz Link. It's in the Blueline series of guitars Its a Flower Top, and has the best inlay on the face of the guitar. So I'll find out between the Two, I might have what I'm looking for. I've read that the English Designer has been designing guitars for a while and these pup's on the guitars are also his design. So I'll see.

But back to the other question does any one have dealings with there or another guitar they've come in contact with, with Alder wood or Basswood? I'm just wondering about the difference from the Spruce,Maple, and Mahogany made guitars.

As for solid bodies, I can give you a comparison from the Stratocaster department. I've got three Strats, one alder, one ash and one basswood.

The ash has the beefiest, deepest tone, hands down. The alder is in the middle, and the basswood is on top.
