Titanium Frets

Recommended Posts

After the Bone Frets comment in the other thread, I was thinking, what about titanium frets, although a bit costly, wouldn;t it be a fantastic long-term solution to fret-wear?

Is there such a thing, if so is it only rare due to cost, or some good reason not to use it?

Interesting idea.

Guitars are steeped in tradition, that's probably why there aren't a whole lot of innovative trends. You have to give Martin some credit on innovative designs.

I think the newfangled 'Evo' frets aren't a million miles away from this idea.

All I know is fretwear really annoys me. I play a great deal of live shows, and I'm used to having my frets dressed once every six months and replaced every 18-24mths.

There has to be a solution, surely?

Do they affect tone at all?

Not so's you could tell, no. There is surely some difference in freq response an o-scope could discern but not our sorry ears!
