deepblue
Just a few more pics from last night. Have you guys that have done this procedure noticed that greyish/brown crap on the rag?...I guess thats the goop they use to give it that aged look. Heres the Pot well. Notice theres no plate? They go right through to the front of the guitar. I noticed "R9" was stamped in the corner. Heres the neck pup lifted. I wonder who PS is?

deepblue
That looks so clean! Are you going to replace the caps anytime? R9... I doubt it. The way I figure it, I paid good money for this guitar. This is the way Gibson says it should be so im not only happy with that, but im also over the moon about the tone. I was considering it when I realised the pots were basically on/off with no in betweens, but I got used to it and I really dont toy with them that much anyway. For the neck pup I have the tone no more then 3....I like the Clapton-esque woman tone. Very smooth and creamy. The bridge I leave the tone at about 8 or 9....I want the wail out with more treble sound. I know newer pots would allow me more taper but im ok with what I have. The caps...Im not a tech, but whatever it is those "Bumblebees" are doing....daddy likes!

That's normal and may or may not happen to a guitar, according to the Virtuoso web site.
Flight959
Another feature which is historically acurate... No screening plate... In the early Gibsons the pots were fitted driectly onto the wood. Flight959

deepblue
I knew that the 59's came bareback. No plate to attach the pots. Thats the way they were all those years ago.
