I just received my Oasis humidifier today .

On the box, they say to use distilled water. Is this a rule to stricly abide by or just better than good ol' domestic water?

Thanks folks!

I keep Oasis humidifiers in all of my guitars during the winter months. I've always used distilled water — thankfully it's cheap. I'm guessing one of the reasons that they specify the use of distilled water is to prevent mineral deposits from clogging up the one-way porous nature of the fabric that allows the system to work the way it does. At any rate, I've used Oasis humidifiers for many years now and not once have I encountered a problem.

+1

Another Oasis plus is no leaks. We've seen a few posts by unfortunate members who used humidifier types that dripped water into the guitar, causing some damage.
