j45nick Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 There are some seriously nice guitars in that collection. Talk about an eclectic group of guitars!
jt Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 There are some seriously nice guitars in that collection. Talk about an eclectic group of guitars! Unfortunately, he woudn't tell me about the guitars that he's kept.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 G.E. Smith looks half dead........ouch I thought the same ... yikes :S
MapleManiac Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Here is my interview of Gere.. He is quite knowledgeable and articulate about guitars. The moral of this story: actors are overpaid.
onewilyfool Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Unfortunately, he woudn't tell me about the guitars that he's kept. JT...did you play any with him??? Is he any good?
onewilyfool Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Here's what they went for: http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/searchresults.aspx?intSaleID=23434#action=refine&intSaleID=23434&sid=a41a92d5-6895-4d34-9931-5fb79313592d
MapleManiac Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Why is it okay to make fun of GE Smith but my Gere comments keep getting deleted?
j45nick Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Here's what they went for: http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/searchresults.aspx?intSaleID=23434#action=refine&intSaleID=23434&sid=a41a92d5-6895-4d34-9931-5fb79313592d No bargains there! Holy cow! A late 60's ES 335 for almost $12K? You can buy those by the bushel for $5K in perfect condition.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 Why is it okay to make fun of GE Smith but my Gere comments keep getting deleted? sorry MM at least I wasn't trying to make fun of anyone ... I just think that if they were going to shoot him on camera they would have prepared him just like they do anyone :) .
MapleManiac Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 sorry MM at least I wasn't trying to make fun of anyone ... I just think that if they were going to shoot him on camera they would have prepared him just like they do anyone :) . Your comment was funny. But why did the mods delete my Richard Gere comments? Did I miss the memo that he's an untouchable demi-god?
JuanCarlosVejar Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 Your comment was funny. But why did the mods delete my Richard Gere comments? Did I miss the memo that he's an untouchable demi-god? I would bash Richard Gere too ... for me he is no demi-god of any sort. I'm not sure why the deleted your comments were they out of line ?
retrorod Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I thought the same ... yikes :S plus one! What in the hell happened to him??
retrorod Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I had no idea that Richard Gere was the new "go to" guy for all things vintage . Ah ,what the hell, I like to learn something new everyday... RRod
MapleManiac Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I would bash Richard Gere too ... for me he is no demi-god of any sort. I'm not sure why the deleted your comments were they out of line ? I said that for a guy who has so many beautiful guitars, why does he need GE Smith to play them for him? That was deleted. So I tested the waters again and said his collection is proof that actors are overrated. You be the judge. Were those comments out of line? I would argue that the mods deleting them was out of line. Hopefully this post won't be deleted too...........
retrorod Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I remember reading that post....but did not see G.E. playing any of them...must have missed it...
jt Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 JT...did you play any with him??? Is he any good? Wily, Christie's called me and asked me to come into NYC to interview him. Unfortunately, I couldn't on that day, so I did the unterview by phone. By all accounts, he's a good player. He's jammed with some famous folks.
