Del Nilppeznaf Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 This morning I noticed a slight buzzing coming from sound hole when the A string it plucked. Also when hit hard at 9th fret; and harmonic at 12. from reading previous posts I understand this can be caused by change in humidity/temperature? My question is; what exactly would be likely cause of the actual 'buzzing', as in what in the guitar is causing it? ( is it the bracing ) I'm not overly concerned ...yet... just interested in learning more. also what is best solution? Don't have a humidifier at the moment !!!!! I know i gotta get one :) thanks
blindboygrunt Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 from what i remember you're in ireland? surely we dont need humidifiers !!! unless you can get huge ones and we'll all set them to reverse
blindboygrunt Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 it'll be a badly seated string , a loose brace (why just the A?) a loose machine head part cant be fret cos the harmonic causes it right ? it'll be figured out by the end of the day when these guys wake up but please , surely it doesnt need a humidifier ??

I also have thought I may not need one. I need to get hydromometer thingy.( cant spell the actual word).what tell what the actual humidity is. cheap ones only seem to be available from UK. I plan to get humidifier from thomann that sits in case and tells what humidity is also... My cottage is quite damp ... but I have a stove and oil heating.. so Im pretty sure it could cause problems. It seems to me the wave length of the A harmonic/string is causing something inside the body of the guitar to buzz.... I have had the new guitar a week and only just started to happen..so.
blindboygrunt Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 humidity'll be 95% rising to 125% sometimes :-) thats the lovely hummingbird isnt it? i hope its something simple . i imagine you have been round all the little nuts on the machineheads etc ? did you recently change strings? could the A not be seated corectly under the bridge ?

Yea its a the Bird.. Hadn't done string change... factory ones sounding real good, but loosened off string and pulled pin and end out, then replaced. definitely improved buzzing.... though still there somewhat. cheers
Jinder Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I've had the same thing happen many times-in fact, it happened just the other day on my AJ! It's almost definitely a ball-end on your A-string not seating snugly against your bridgeplate and buzzing or rattling with the vibrations of the string. If it's not the ball-end on your A, it'll be another ball-end vibrating away sympathetically. I'd recommend a string change, and make sure all your strings are stretched in hard and seated well at the bridge pins.
Del Nilppeznaf Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Cheers folks, re-pinning A seems to have solved buzz... now G is buzzin. haha think I need a restring Jinder
