Your pics are not really adequate for the purpose of authentication, but it looks OK to me based on what you have posted so far. I don't believe that anybody can be sure based on just these photos.

Did the previous owner take sandpaper to the back of the neck, or what? This is not usually where normal finger wear occurs on an electric guitar...

My $0.02/FWIW

Thanks for your answer, I don't know about any sandpaper, but it is really worn! But my main constraint is about the logo at the headstock that seems a little less inclined..

Speaking for myself, I have never seen a 137 with a pearl logo, nor an ES 135, either. Can you post a likk to a pearl 137?

Howdy J/W,

Gotta admit, Gibson non solid bodies are not something I know too much about.

I simply entered ES-137 into google, hit images and most are gold decal type, some are pearloid, I'm sure if you do the same you will get the same, but for the meantime:

On top of that the Les Paul Tribute Gold Top I am currently playing has its Gibson logo in a rather haphazard position.

Cheers

All the links you show are for the ES 137 CUSTOM, which has all of the appointments you would expect on a custom model: bound headstock, pearl inlays, ebony fingerboard, etc.

The OP posted pics of the standard model, the ES 137 CLASSIC (I have one that I would not trade for anything, and it has the silk-screened logo and a rosewood board with a cheesy "C" inlaid at the 12th fret...).

Good stuff!

(So what does the "C" in ES-137C stand for then? custom? classic? something else entirely??)

It looks OK from where I'm standing...

May be worth a serial No. check

As already implied...the ES137 is a very fine instrument...in this instance 'C' stands for 'Classic'....

So once any anxieties have been allayed

It will be time to play and marvel at the 'versatility' of this well conceived modern archtop guitar.... [thumbup]

Right on! And let me say that the more I play my ES 137 C (for classic, in my case) the more confident I am in saying that this is probably the best Gibson of any vintage I have owned since I got my first one in 1968!

Thanks a lot for your answers!

I have an es 137 I ordered mine new from GC last May, it's a great guitar.I love it was built for me. I love the look of it too. The Gibson logo is silkscreened on the 137 classic and the custom has the split diamond logo with the silver name(wrong term I know). How much did you get yours for if you don't mind me asking? Also if you call Gibson they can run the serial number over the phone with you.
