sledge57 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Never have been very interested in a 12 string but this one called out to me so I rescued it from a pawn shop. According to the guitar dater it's a 98 made in Zaozhuang Saehan, China. Now for you 12 string guys, which strings? I want something very light to ease the stress on the guitar, if I can. Epiphone AJ-15-12 The required pics........
dubstar Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I have an AJ-18S-12 LH: Your guitar was made at the Zaozhuang Saehan, China May 1998 I use these: http://elderly.com/accessories/names/d%27addario-exp38-12-string-acoustic-guitar-set-coat--EXP38.htm
mgrasso Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I have the AJ 18s 12 also and was blown away with the tone and playability of this guitar. A great sloped shouldered guitar. About to change strings on it. Will give those strings a try. Enjoy yours, and play it often.
bonzoboy Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I make up my own sets of strings for 12 string guitars.First I start off with a set of D'Addario 8-38 Nickel Plated strings then add on strings that I buy loose so I end up with E 1st: .008 &.008 B 2nd: .010 & .010 G: .015 & .008 D: .021 & .010 A: .030 & .015 E: .038 & .021. I use these gauges on my old 12 strings because they put less strain on the neck than any prepackaged strings that you can get consequently there's less chance of the tension doing damage to the neck or top.You can buy ready made D'Addario sets that are a bit heavier than the gauges that I make up with the core set being .009-.042.
abbeyroadman Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Hi - Nice rescue. I use these "extra lights" on my 12-string (not an Epihone): Martin MSP4600 Phosphor Bronze Extra Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings. Regards,
