dougg330
Well, I danced it around it for a while at the local GC. Talked myself out of it because the neck pickup Tone pot didn't work. But they fixed it, and there was a 15% off sale....so I caved. Sounded good in the store. Lowered the action when I changed strings after I got it home, and now it sounds even better. Great guitar for the money, IMHO. And to prove that it happened: I included a closeup of the neck grain because I was impressed with the grain pattern -doesn't look cheap. Now, following the rules of the poverty stricken GAS victim, something has to go to make room. I'm thinking my '96 Riviera with minihumbuckers could be the likely candidate. Or even my beloved '66 ES-330. Hmmmm. Decisions, tough decisions.
Aster1
Nice looking Casino w/ whammy!! If it were me, I'd keep the ES-330 and sell the 96 Riviera. Unless something's not that great about the 330 I guess. Aster

DeweyCox
Lovely Casino! As for selling… if you absolutely have to, keep the 330, might be harder (and more expensive) to come by…

BillyGibson
Congratulations. I almost pulled the trigger on one, but they sold out. Maybe they'll do a second run? How do the p/u's compare to your ES330?

dougg330
Just came back from playing the new Casino thru my 60's Gibson Explorer GA-8T, which lives at my friend's recording studio. It blew my mind. The P-90's sound fantastic - nice jazzy tones from the neck, great bite form the bridge, and a wonderful midrange-y thing with both on. Someone asked how it compares with my 330. I'd have to say that thru this amp, it's about 95% or more of the 330. Lacks a little of the airy/woody quality of the 330, but has fantastic presence and note definition. Pickups didn't get muddy, single notes and chords rang out. So sweet!!! I'm going to have a little riser put under the bridge pu to get it closer to the strings for more response, and have the frets fine-tuned. But I can't get over how amazing this Casino is. Also, we A/B'ed it against my friend's Inspired By John Lennon Casino. The 61's neck is a little slimmer, which I like, and we both agreed it has better tone. For less $$$!!!!!! bonzoboy
Congrats on your new Casino,as the owner of 2 Casinos I can say that they are absolutely great guitars.BTW whatever you do don't get rid of another guitar to make room for it-believe me you will live to regret it.I have sold and traded gear to finance another purchase and have always regretted the decision sometime or another down the road and I have sworn "never again". bigneil
Nice! I love the vibrato. HNGD! Is it ok to trade guitars for gear, and vice versa ?
dougg330
This is why I have no money: bought the Casino with the intention of selling one or more of my other guitars and coming out ahead fiscally. Already caving and planning to just keep them all - so instead of ending up with more money, I have less. Oh, well...I can always bash a bill collector with a guitar, right? dougg330
An update on my 61 Reissue Casino: Took it in to my favorite luthier this AM for a little fine tuning. He loved it immediately. Flipped over the neck... and then plugged it in and couldn't believe the pickups. He'll put a riser under the bridge PU, and touch-up the nut and frets so it's damn close to perfect. Can't say enough positive things about this guitar. The finish is flawless; a little dust on the fretboard, but it wiped right off when I changed strings. And there are absolutely no rattles or buzzes from this baby at all. You can shake it hard and it's silent. Don't know if I just got lucky with this one, or if they're all like this...but I don't care. Psyched to get it back and play more!

dougg330
Picked up the Casino after its set-up this afternoon. All I can say is.... wow. It's set up with 11's now, which give the tone even more body. This thing sounds freakin' amazing - so rich. With the bridge PU raised slightly, it really snarls now, too. The action and intonation are perfect all along the neck, and the frets are smooth as glass. Plays and sounds like a multi-thousand dollar guitar. Taking it to a jam next Thursday night - can't wait til my guitar buddies get a load of it.
