bluezguy Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hi Folks ... not being a regular user of the 5th, 7th & 12th fret harmonics while I play, I recently discovered - I need them for a new tune I'm crafting. 7th & 12th frets chime all over the place but the 5th is quite 'muted'. I keep my instruments intoned very regularly. My 2003 'birdV is exclusively my open 'E' tuning weapon and I string my brite wires over the bridge - not through as typical setup. As fate would have it, it's the 5th fret harmonics I need... Any ideas before I waste a couple costly sets of strings experimenting????
Versatile Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hi bluezguy.... Assuming it is known that the finger making the harmonic has to be lifted immediately after sounding the note It is much more critical at the 5th fret than 7th and 12th If the finger keeps contact with the string too long it will muffle the note.... V

CaptainNemo68 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Also check out the different open harmonics at the fourth fret. Very interesting and much harder to get!
