Needs specs for my gibson SG

D Monzon

Recommended Posts

I bought my Gibson SG back in 2006. I was told it was an SG Special. I recently just started searching around for the actual specs for this guitar. My serial number is 94002260. However looking at the Gibson website on how to decode your serial number it does not make sense. I cannot find my guitar anywhere on the internet to try and maybe see if it is kind of the same. I have attached some pictures, maybe someone can try and help identify the make and model and specs for this guitar. Also decode my serial number.

This is indeed an SG special.

The following might help in the spec search.

From the gibson support page: http://www.gibson.co...alNumberSearch/

Those beginning with "94": In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, many instruments have a serial number that begins with "94" for the year, with the remaining 6 digits indicating the ranking number.

according to http://www.guitardaterproject.org:

Guitar Info

Your guitar was made at the

Nashville Plant, TN, USA

, 1994

Production Number: 002260

Gibson: Nashville

Gibson's Nashville plant was opened in Tennessee 1974. All electric models and some acoustic models currently made at this factory. This facility has an average production rate of 220 guitars a day. Each guitar is built by hand and takes about 4 to 6 weeks to complete. Note: Most hollow and semi-hallow body guitars are made at a separate plant in Memphis Tennessee. This facility has an average production rate of 40 guitars a day.

Thank you for your reply, I called Gibson and found the specs for this guitar. Specs are 1994 Gibson SG Special in Ferrari Red. It would have come with 490R and 498T pickups, rounded neck, ebony fretboard, tune-o-matic bridge, stop bar tailpiece, mahogany body and neck.
