xdamerx
I recently got the "correct" treble/rhythm switch for my LP, and when I went to put it in, just to see what it looked like, it seems to stick out a tad too much on the bottom, causing my cover not completely fit properly. I could easily just not worry about it, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and I'm sure the rest of you who have LP's probably don't have the same problem as me! Any suggestions? Thanks! Flight959
When you say it sticks out do you mean it doesnt fit flush against the body...If thats the case thats normal. Dont over tighten the screw that fits into the hole to hold the swich plate down or you will have real problems. Give it a while and the switch plate will bed in! xdamerx
The switch fits fine inside, it's just it sticks out a bit out of the cavity and the cover doesn't seem to screw down flush. I'm not gonna over tighten it or anything, as I don't wannt wreck the screw holes or bend the switch plate much. I just figured it would fit in perfectly! SRV-Zeppelin
Well that's the problem with replacement parts, they never do fit in quite perfect... but as flight959 said, after enough playing it should bend in and be fine.

xdamerx
Yea it's a switchcraft, says right on it. I took it out of the authentic Gibson packaging myself, cost me a bloody fortune to get as well! Is there some way I can sort of shave the bottom bit of the switch that isn't metal? I just don't feel comfortable with the plate sort of being bent that's all! Thanks for the replys guys!

(gibson les paul custom, standard, or some of the thinner models gibson has put out at times, or maybe another brand's version of the les paul or maybe you are building this guitar....)? I have had trouble with les paul copies as they more often use the other switch (the one that looks like a little case) that is shorter. The gibson switch is longer and wont fit in most copies. If your guitar is a "normal spec" gibson, then maybe the part you bought does not match gibson's specs (most aftermarket parts that are not made by gibson have different issues when trying to install them into gibsons, while you can install them into les paul and sg copies with no problem at all). xdamerx
The model I have is a Les Paul Studio. The part I bought is the Gibson brand part, so I'm not sure if that goes into the after market category! Would I be better off seeing if switchcraft has a smaller version of the same part? Eracer_Team
take a look at the switch where the nut is, often I've seen an adjuster nut near the body of the switch on the shaft. if its got one you may be able to take it off and that will allow the switch to fit farther into the body, allowing the back access cover to fit.
