PLEK question

I don't believe that they Plek guitars except for new fabrication (and not even all of the new guitars are being Plekd at this time... not that many machines to do all of the necks being produced)..

Call Gibson customer service and you'll have an answer on the spot..

i don't know any places in Florida but I'm sure there's someone in driving distance of you who would do it. But i would definitely recommend having it pleked though. my dad got an old MIJ strat that mike lull had rebuilt and pleked and it played nicer than any other guitar I've ever played.

Google 'Plek' and it'll tell you a lot.

Flight959; I know of the one in Richmond (London' date=' UK) but where's the other ? I'd really like to know!

Thanks in advance if you can help.[/quote']

The other is: Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience

Contact person: Charlie, Paul

21 High St, Hampton Wick

Middlesex KT1 4DA

London,UK http://guitar-xperience.com/onlinestore/

BOTH companies were owned by the same person... One guy left and started the other company or something like that....One is slightly cheaper than the other..

The one your talking about is

Thanks for that flight959.

SRV-Zep; I talked to one of the Plek centres flight959 mentions and they confirmed that although, in theory, Plek-ing should make the playability of the guitar near-perfect most customers still ask the workshop to finish the fret-dress by hand as somehow this makes it feel better. They couldn't explain why this should be the case but it just seems to be so.

i think the idea of plek-ing is a great idea , it takes the mystery out of whether or not when you pick up a guitar that the frets are at least nice and level. my LP's frets are nice i think but if i needed to refret it in the future i would consider plek-ing for sure

I picked up a 1970 Les Paul Custom at this GC in OC tonight... thrashed body... sucky pickups in it. Beautiful, wonderful, wide and low frets immaculately dressed (though really dirty) and set into a nice ebony fretboard. Modern fret-dressers at Gibson cannot compare to the old masters.

The Plek machines at Gibson are a miracle of science! Every Custom Shop guitar now plays fantastic, generally with perfect string action. I HAVE noticed that sometimes, the sides of the frets where the strings don''t touch, can sometimes be rough. Maybe that's why people want their frets hand-polished after Plek dressing?
