TinyBabyBrandon Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Hey y'all, been a while and I hope everyone had a glorious Christmas/holiday season! Hopefully everyone got a new guitfiddle from that jolly old fat man breaking and entering at will. I was just wondering if anyone knows the specifics on the holes that vibrola leaves in the top of an es-335 or es style guitar. I was thinking about the repercussions of having one of these bad boys thrown on, but I don't want there to be overt irreversible aesthetic damage. So, anyone know how many holes and what size and where they would be on the guitar? Thanks guys!
BillyGibson Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 It's going to leave a mark. And when it's on there the stop piece studs will still be showing. I believe Vibramate makes a few designs that are "no drill". A B5 version would work on it even though it's more for a solid flat top - "SG style". It simply uses the existing stop piece studs and the bigsby attaches to it. Very simple. Then you can always go back to stock again with no marks.
cjtowner Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Look at this down tension bar www.townerusa.com Install a Bigsby B3, B6 or B11tge kit mounts to existing studs.
Sunburst PB Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Replace a stopbar with a Vibrola, really?
TinyBabyBrandon Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Replace a stopbar with a Vibrola, really? Yeah, bad idea, I know. I actually posted this when I was looking at getting a used 335 with a vibrola on it. I would have ditched the vibrola and went back to the stopbar, but wanted to see from you guys how bad it would be. I ended up not getting the guitar.
