ajbcc2
I just bought myself a Les Paul Standard. but there are a few things i was hoping someone could clear up for me. My truss rod cover doesnt say standard its just black is this normal? Also I cant find anything about this guitar online..its stamped on the back of the head stock "made in usa 2010" the serial numbers are 12300321 and from what I gather that means made on Aug 21 2010 the 21st guitar of production, but the 21st was a saturday..do they have production on saturdays? All I find online is 2008 standards or 2010 models other than the standard(traditional, plus, robo, limited etc.) wheres the info on a 2010 standard
BigKahune
. Welcome. Actuallly, 12300321 decodes to August 18th, 2010 production number 21 - http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Support/SerialNumberSearch/ From the tiny pic it looks like a wine red LP Standard. The TRC and knobs could've been swapped. You can email Gibson service@gibson.com with the serial number and they will send you the info - model, finish, electronics and hardware. chrisnorthw
Hi my Les Paul Standard also has just the black truss rod cover, mine has a 50's neck and there was a sticker on the truss rod cover to say that. Mine was made a few months before the "new" Les Pauls came out. Nice Wine red colour you have there but it looks like volume and tone switches have been changed and also the pickguard as pickgurad would usually be the cream colour. If it plays well enjoy it! Yaff
That is not an 08 Standard, which is why you have a blank truss rod cover. The 08 Standard has: - Locking tuners - Locking Bridge - Locking tailpiece - No speed dials on the 08 Standard - Transparent cover on the pack. so you can see the PCB and pots - The 08 Standard has not got a 50`s neck profile I am not sure which one it is, but it looks like a Traditional. However, the traditional also has a name plate. Anyway, the name is not important, if it plays and feels as good as it looks, you should be a happy man Congratulations
CaptainNemo68
Isn't there supposed to be nine numbers in a serial number?
Rabs
Hi there, The 2008 Standard has an asymmetrical neck, I have a wine red one and its great.. the locking hardware totally rocks, its a proper upgrade in terms of hardware. They should put the asymmetrical neck on more models.. I am used to the 60s neck and this one is just as great to play if not better. Work in Progress
Isn't there supposed to be nine numbers in a serial number? That's what I was thinking too. I'm thinking he forgot a 0 in there somewhere.
BigKahune
. Eight numbers for a standard serial - YDDDYRRR YY is the production year DDD is the day of the year RRR is the factory ranking/plant designation number. Customs, reissues, special runs, anniversary runs - are different.
