jimmiJAMM
Found this for sale online and wanted to get your opinions. "1961 Gibson SG 2005 Reissue with hot '57 humbuckers for sale. Cosmetically, the guitar is in awesome shape. There is a small chip on the headstock. " Good deal??
cvansickle
And by "small chip" the seller really means....? Pictures would help you decide. Show 'em if ya' got 'em!
jimmiJAMM
Kinda tough to see the extent of the damage but here's a link to the CL ad: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/msg/896115121.html I guess that can be repaired but if so, will that cosmetic repair detract from the future value of the guitar? Seems like a great deal considering it's more than half off what they regularly sell for although she's nearly 4 yrs old. Hmmm. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-SG--61-Reissue-Electric-Guitar-518935-i1150288.gc
Space Pup
If you are in the area, it wouldn't hurt to go check it out. If nothings wrong with it, that's a pretty good price. The chip on the headstock looks to be a minor flaw for the price.
cvansickle
After seeing the pic, I wouldn't call it a "small chip." However, it does not look to be something that would affect playability. If you're looking for a collector's piece, here it ain't! But if the guitar is a great playing and sounding instrument, one could learn to live with that chip.
