getsumonya
Having some difficulties on the 12 side. The saddles have 2 strings each which is fine for e B and G but D A E have octaves and I'm having trouble getting both strings of the EAD to set the intonation. The E is the worse - the lower will be sharp and the higher flat - get one set and the other is way out. My solution so far has been to get as close as possible tuned down 1/2 step and then capo the first fret. This works OK for basic chords but anything past the 5th fret and the bass strings are a bit out of tune. Any tips?
getsumonya
Yea you can here it - about 4 or 5 frets up it gets annoying. I've had the guitar for several years and just rarely play the 12 side. The 6 string neck has awesome sustain and sound - probably due to all the wood from the rest of the monster - so its fun to play. But was thinking of gigging it for a couple of tunes but need to get the bugs worked out. This one is the old version with the stop piece set really far back from the bridge. The later ones have it closer to the bridge. Makes me wonder if that fixed this issue somewhat.
pfox14
One possible solution would be using a "compensated" nut which entails filing the slots slightly to adjust for intonation. In this case, getting the string with the flat pitch exact, and filing back the slot on the sharp string thus lowering the pitch. Doesn't take much to make it right and at least the intonation will be closer to correct. Just a suggestion.
