bluesguitar65
I went to GC today and picked one up. Not bad for $39.99. Very useable fuzz indeed. By bluesguitar65 at 2012-01-17 By bluesguitar65 at 2012-01-

The.Traffic.Lights
I just made a youtube. I like it very much, has that 60s kinda fuzz to it. Sounds really nice! But am I right saying that it has a serious drop in the volume? I noticed that after playing clean stuff you had to set the volume knob all the way up to get the same output level. You almost have to have the volume set to max to get unity. All demo videos you find on Tweak Fuzz will have the level control set very high. There is a mod that fixes this but nevertheless, I find this pedal very good for the price IMHO.
bluesguitar65
Well, I just found out the drop in volume level when this pedal is engaged was deliberate in design. Seymour Duncan states that they designed the Tweak Fuzz with "based on a truly vintage circuit like the old Fuzz Face pedal". Here is Seymour Duncan's response to this volume level drop. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/faq/frequently-asked/everything-else/why_doesnt_the/ The Tweak Fuzz is a tone shaper, not a tone booster. The Tweak Fuzz design is based on a truly vintage circuit like the old Fuzz Face pedal. Depending on your set-up, you may find that to achieve a proper balance between your clean tone and your fuzz tone, you have to turn the Tweak Fuzz volume almost all the way up. This is normal for just about any type of vintage fuzz pedal. Additionally, since fuzz pedals have such an extreme amount of distortion, they tend to have a very compressed, dark sound. So if you are using a bright clean tone, and then kick in the Tweak Fuzz with the gain cranked up, it is likely that you will need to set the Tweak Fuzz volume rather high in order to avoid losing overall volume when the pedal is engaged. Dub-T-123
Wow. What a horrible idea to make the volume like that.. Crank it or spank it. I will have none of this unity gain fuzzery.
sneakerpimp
interesting. are those really different tweaks or simply added-on detents on a contour control? to me it sounds like variances of the same voice going from wide open to compressed. the demo sounds excellent--i wouldn't mine test driving one out myself. Riffster
I am glad you posted this, I bought one of these for $40 on a stupid deal of the day and I have had little opportunity to play with it. I did notice the pedal sounded anemic with the volume turned down but I was leveling between cleans and this pedal using the other channel in my amp, I don;t think I ever actually leveled the volume with of this pedal using the same channel so I never pickup up on it.
