Mark DeLonge
First of all i have a Gibson SG Standard with Coil-Splitting in White made in 2011. I bought it from Guitar Center brand new. I got this guitar literally 2 weeks ago. I played it the weekend i got it and this weekend and yesturday. All i have done to it is take out the strap button and put in Strap locks and i restrung it and cleaned, polished, conditioned it. I have the case it comes with which is a black alligator like skin on the exterior with a silver GIBSON USA on it and a white interior. So after i was done playing yesturday i noticed that my SG the part thats rests under your boob on the back was pink? i had a mini heart attack cuz i got scared i already ruined it somehow. I took it home and i got my Dunlop cleaning stuff which i used the past weeks and wiped it down with the cleaner and that did like nothing so i got some of the caranuba wax and it came off. SO now there is no pink... BUT HOW ON EARTH DID I GET THE PINK ON MY GUITAR AND IS THERE ANYWAYS I CAN PREVENT IT OR GET IT OFF... Ps. How do u fix minor belt sctraches on your guitar THANK U SO FLIPPING MUCH
BigKahune
. Nitro finishes can absorb dyes. White is notorious. You might have had a shirt on with some red in the color mix that got into the finish. I've seen posts for red/pink and blue from blue jeans. Dampness from sweat or water will facilitate the reaction. Fortunately you acted quickly - usually these kinds of stains are permanent. White case lining for a white nitro guitar finish is what you want - years ago there were some similar problems with pink lined cases and white finishes. Minor scratches - some light rubbing/polishing compound. .

And is there any other way if they do happen to get the color off. Thanks again
BigKahune
. You're doing the right things - keep a coat of wax on it, and wipe it down after playing, checking for any stains - if you find any use your wax/cleaner. .
charlie brown
Don't you just LOVE "white" guitars?! (I do, but...except for that fact!) Wait until it starts turning yellow! CB
btoth76
That's the nitro finish. My 50's Tribute GT has got some dark-brown stripes along the back edges. A pretty dark one the bottom, slight ones on waist curves. I really don't know how my guitar got them, since I was already aware of the backside of having a nitro finished instrument. I was watching for the clothes I wear during I play it, choose the correct hardcase, I use the Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish as it should be used...but the discoloration is there...have to live with them... Cheers...Bence

Malchik
My Martin D-28 12 has pink binding thanks to a navy colored shirt. Now, all my shirts are black and worn, no colors.
pfox14
White guitars are like white carpeting - hard to prevent stains no matter what.
