Learnd this over at marshall forum. Take a guitar jack from FX Loop send into input on a switch box, then take a jack from the output from the switch box to the FX loop Return. On my Marshall dsl 401 i got a knob going from 0-10 on the fx loop. I kick it in for solo's, works great. Best boost ever [thumbup]

Doesn't make any difference on my JCM 2000. I'm glad really as I wouldn't want it add to the gain when I just want to use it as an effects loop.

I suppose that on my amp the effect loop must simply be a parallel pre-amp to power amp connection that runs along side the internal connection, splitting the signal in 2 when connected. I can't think how else it would be actually... What model is your amp?

Edit: just reread and saw you're using a dsl401. I am surprised that it has a boost effect. I would have thought my TSL60 would have the same wiring on the effect loop. I have an fxloop switch on my amps foot switch so I just connected up the fx loop with a jack cable

It's a Marshall jcm 2000 DSL 401 combo(2009). I don't know so much about the technical stuff, but i hear it boost the signal pretty much with the FX Loop Knob adjustment on 10.
