Rabs
I know the bidding has ended but what do you think... the real thing???? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270857415931?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
stein
Well, I certainly can't tell. What it SEEMS like in the description, is that he had bought at some point a guitar he thought was a genuine '59, and came to find out at a later time it problably wasn't. It also sounds like the pups are genuine though, and I think the final price reflects that.
Gary Moore Tribute
This says its genuine BUT has been refinished For the tech buffs its serial is "9 1942"
Angellus
refinished, and the headstock seemed a little odd to me. whats also odd is why put a 59 on the internet and let it go for £3,550? I know the rare and vintage shop he's talking about in Denmark Street London. They confirmed the pickups were genuine but didnt confirm the guitar. Also Tokai (who wrote the letter) make the Love Rock Les Pauls using Faber parts. I wouldn't buy based from their recommendation. IMO it has been sold so many times because it raises too many questions
RockingRelic
If buying an expensive guitar vintage or otherwise and there is any kind of doubt about its authenticity I leave alone , play safe is my policy . That letter was signed by Robert Murdoch Ha ha that Surname would sure put me off .
BigKahune
. Curious . . . Here's an odd bit not covered in the seller's text or the letter of provenance for serial# 9 1942 - There's a number scratched into the cavity plate: 9 1947 - apparently a different serial#. DestructorsKillMusic1982
While I'm not sure about this one, this is a perfect example of what annoys the crap outta me: 12 freakin' photos (even 2 of the case!) and not ONE of the front of the headstock?? What, did the guy just somehow forget?? I guess it just "eludes" so many sellers to take a picture of the part of the guitar that is most associated with identifying it. Even if this '59 is legit, I think it makes a listing look very suspicious...
