Knobs Replacement

Factory installed knobs are wedged in place. Try using a t-shirt to protect your fingers when you pull up on the knobs. You might also try an athletic shoe string looping it underneath to gently pull up on the knob.

Its simple, when you know how!

Get a cloth (t-shirt or any bit of fabric) and slide the edge all the way under the lip of the knob. Then you can simpley pull it off.

The trick is get even pressure all round the knob. Its easier to do than say, but heedfully you get it

While I have used the t-shirt and shoelace methods (and they both work) I now use a special puller tool. It will also pull bridge and tail-piece bushings. I bought this to do conversions from Nashville to ABR bridges, but it works great for knobs too! Admittedly it's a big investment just to pull knobs, but if you do other work on guitars it is an excellent tool to have!
