MissouriPicker
Yeah, Diamond does the song very well. It was originally an old French/Gallic song. I "think" that the late poet/songwriter, Rod McKuen, put it into English. Has been recorded by quite-a-few big stars------Shirley Bassey, Sinatra, Diamond and several others........Thanks for the video. Neil is great. StijnV
The original song is from the Belgian Jacques Brel I think "Ne me quitte pas", that is, if he was the original songwriter of that song. Nice "translation" though !
Lefty Guy
I love Neil Diamond. His songs work very well on acoustic guitar & are pretty simple to play - its all in his vocals! This is my favourite off one of his more recent albums...
BigKahune
. That's from the very good album Stones (for those who don't get the creeps). Stones came out in 1971, then though 1982 Diamond put out 11 albums - all but 2 made it into the top 10 albums for their year of release. 1. I Am...I Said 2. The Last Thing on My Mind (Tom Paxton) 3. Husbands and Wives (Roger Miller) 4. Chelsea Morning (Joni Mitchell) 5. Crunchy Granola Suite 6. Stones 7. If You Go Away (Jacques Brel, Rod McKuen) 8. Suzanne (Leonard Cohen) 9. I Think It's Gonna Rain Today (Randy Newman) 10. I Am...I Said (Reprise) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ysm9eRtYHk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjZ3xlJ32jU
