Bill Moore
I traded for this guitar in the early 80's, and installed the Dimarzio, and the Badass bridge. I was told it was an EB-3, and it is similar to the marked EB-0 that my wife was playing at the time. I've looked at pictures of EB-3 guitars, and none have the metal control cover. Any ideas? pfox14
I believe your bass is an early to mid 1970s model SB-450. It's similar to the earlier EB-3s, but different pickup position and no pickguard.

ramone57
looks like an SB-300 with both pickups rerplaced. http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/SB.php
Bill Moore
Thanks to all for ihe information, it seems to be an SB-300 that was modified even before I got it. The ends of the single coil mount cover the opening left from mounting the small humbucker in the bridge position. I'll have to look for the neck humbucker that I took out to install the DiMarzio, but I think it did have the staggered pole pieces. When I got this guitar, I was looking for some more power than the EB-0, it and a BG-250 covered the venues we were playing at the time.
