patricio
After talking to the guys at All Parts and Stew/Mac, they directed me here to get some questions out. I got this les paul about 4 months ago and I can't put it down. There is some spiritual-like mystery to it (i don't get it either). It's weird that I'm very drawn to her. Anyway, here is the info that I need if you can help: Classic type: plain or otherwise Model vs. Classic inscription Burst type Thanks, Pat PS phone photos are pretty crude

pippy
As the link in GibSinCity's post will tell you it's a '1960 Classic' with either a 'Plus' or a 'Premium-Plus' maple top-cap (the Premium Plus has more 'flame' than the Plus). If you take out the bridge p-up there might be some letters like this; LPP = Les Paul 'Plus' and LPPP = Les Paul 'Premium Plus' (Alternatively under the bridge p-up you might have a date stamp) As far as the finish is concerned it looks to be (Heritage) Cherry Sunburst. The code is usually under the neck p-up - for example; HB = Honey Burst; VSB = Vintage Sun Burst; Very nice looking guitar, BTW (I'm a bit of a fan of the 1960 Classics from the early nineties). P. patricio
Cudos on the link, friend! @Pippy I had no idea there was info in LP cavities! Thanks! I'll check it out when I get home (day gig).

CajunBlues
I don't see a mention of ceramic pickups in this thread ? But, I think these guitars came stock with ceramic pickups... Ive heard they have a "high output" sound... Never tried ceramic pickups... But I think I should give them a shot one of these days... Never hurts to try something new... Rabs
This is a LP Classic Plain Top (a 2002 version).. Yours has quite a nice flame to it... nice axe :)
patricio
That's also a nice guitar, Rabs! Is it all stock? I notice your switch cap seems antique. And you have those 'number markers' on all your knobs. Did any classics come 'antiqued'? I've got the yellowing on my binding. Here are some pictures i took this morning. It's getting clearer what model my LP is. Thanks to you guys! 1992 LP Classic Plus Heritage Cherry Sunburst.
pippy
Did any classics come 'antiqued'? I've got the yellowing on my binding. There is a range known as the 'Clasic Antique' which does have aged (yellowed) binding but yours, happily, has aged (yellowed) naturally - which is nice. If we're up for a bit of '1960 Classic' guitar-porn here are my pair (erstwhile seen only in detail) in their entireity; 1991 'Plain-Top' VSB (with covers on the original ceramic p-ups) 1995 HB 'Premium-Plus' with SD Antiquities; P.
