slugshot_90 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I just purchased a used g-400 custom and while looking a noticed the 3 pickups on it look silver rather than the gold that they are listed as being, so just to see if they were aftermarket ones i took them and noticed the bottom of the pickups were a gold color so im guessing the gold kinda faded to a silver (if thats even possible) but anyway i noticed on the neck and middle pickups it says 57ch(g) and the bridge is a hotch(g. on the epiphone site it lists the guitar as having 3 Alnico Classic Plus™ humbucker. are the ones in mine the ones that it should have from factory or are the replaced? it is a 2010 model thanks
jfine Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Gold hardware is gold-plated, and in the case of imported guitars it can be pretty thin. It's not difficult to wear it off and expose the metal underneath. If you've got body chemistry like mine, this can happen fairly quickly--if not, you might be able to make it last a little longer, but if it's not there already...
