DanvillRob Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Some of you may remember some months ago I posted that a flyer of a concert my band played with Van Morrison & THEM back in 1966 was in a display in the R&R H.O.F.....now I just found out the book we're in made it too! This is even better 'cause now they have my photo, (on the cover of the book)!! I'm the guy at the top on the left side of the cover.
L5Larry Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 That is WAY cool. They wouldn't even let me into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame if I bought a ticket...

DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Congrats. I would love to see a collection of the funky off-brand gear these bands used back in the day Here's a pic of us on stage....you can see some of our gear.... This concert was with Big Brother, (THEY opened for US!)
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Rob, exciting news man! So tell me when Van M. comes to town does he call? Cookie, no, not really..... but back in the day he liked me best of all, ('cause I wasn't teller than him). I've told the story about doing a concert with him, (the concert poster is the one in the R&RHOF), and he beat up the members of THEM on stage.... then he went out behind the theatre with Janet Planet and got in his limo. I walked over to see what was going on, and he made me get in the back of the limo with them. Janet and I were sitting back there when the police came and arrested him and took him away! This photo is not from that night.... but this photo was taken the night Van met Janet, (check out her stare....she's looking right through me like I'm not there staring at Van!
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Yeah I'd like to hear some recordings if you've got any! Someone put this together, this is us playing behind this video. The song is called "All The Time"....was the "B-Side" of our "Big" hit! (HAHAHAHAhahahaha) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDRDSouUh_s
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 This was our "Big Hit"!! Funny...the 45 sells for over $1K now! I have my original copy that was given to me back in 1966, one day I might sell it to buy baby a new pair of shoes! Again, I don't know who put this together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wtzUgjrreg
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 What was the name of your band? TheJT1, obviously it was Peter Wheat & The Breadmen. Back in the 50's through the early 70's there was a bread company in the Bay Area called "Peter Wheat", so in the SF Bay Area, the name kinda makes sense. Wasn't our choice of a name, we were called The Tatantels" until a promotions company signed us on, and gave us that name. This photo was taken with an actual Peter Wheat Breadtruck from 1913.
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Oh....and the song was covered by "The Shitbirds", (and you thought Peter Wheat was a funky name!) The singer is named April March, and is still an active recording artist and performer today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSmkHJ197PA
DanvillRob Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Very cool, congrats! Thanks.... I'm sure everyone knows more about me than they ever wanted to!
