Pudge921 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hi,I'm new to this board and not sure the best way to post. My son and I are rewiring a modified Ripper knock-off made by Maya. The original pups were replaced with bartolini Hi-a humbuckers. We've tried to duplicate what was there, but now the tone pots have minimal dynamic range and the volume control doesn't shut off completely. I'm hoping folks can review the pics and offer trouble-shooting advice. The scheme seems correct to me so I'm wondering if we fried a pot or the choke and if that would account for the issues described above. (This was our first attempt at soldering. We used 60/40 rosin core.). Also, the orange drop caps are physically larger than the originals, but have the same ratings (0.047 & 0.1 uF). Thanks in advance for any kind advice. Pudge921 Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 1329144621[/url]' post='1121179']Take a look at this thread and see if you can figure out what went wrong; http://forum.gibson....pper-schematic/ Thanks PFox. I've noticed that on both my old wiring harness and the one pictured on the other thread that the 0.1 uF cap is connected to 3 lugs, including the wiper and number 1 lug of the same pot. Will give that fix a try this weekend. I don't know how you feel about Gibson knock offs, but if the fix works, I'll post pics. Thanks for your help.
