Cracking, nut issues or bowing?

Ive read lots on here about various issues with peoples guitars ranging from cracking finishes, bowing neck, nut problems, electronic issues and the like.. Now the LP ive had the longest ive had for over ten years now (2002 LP Classic) and its still in more or less the same condition as when I bought it.. Ive taken it jamming a few times but mostly when im not playing it, it sits on a stand so is out of its case all the time.. All i can say bad about it is it has the usual light scratch marks that could easily be polished out.

All I do is clean it with a dry cloth when I change the strings and thats the only care ive ever had to give.. Not once have I had to adjust a truss rod, never even oiled the fretboard and the same can be said for all of my guitars.. So either ive been really lucky or I just dont know what im looking for maybe??

Is there anyone else like me who hasnt ever had any issues (and I dont mean set up, of course I do adjust the action, but thats normal).

Just wondering..

Well, of course the vast majority will have no issues. Gibson make great instruments, but if your going to find a story about a problem this is likely to be the place you'll find it. I also had a 2002 standard that was trouble free. You're not lucky, your just not unlucky.

Taking your guitar to jam is very different from playing shows around the Midwest for two years. My SG Clasic has not been to gig and it shows. My Special was played all of those shows and it sure shows from the chip on the top horn, rusted pickguard screws, and worn finish on the headstock.

Being that guitars are made of wood that was a living organism it is impossible that all guitars will be just fine after they are finished into a product.

My Gibsons are fine but I have found my SG to be finicky, it just may need a good setup, but I has already been set up at the Gibson custom shop once, hopefully the guitar will settle over time.

The guitar did come with several small defects that Gibson fixed for the most part.
