DMZ Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hi all, Bought a new Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus last week. Was looking at Gibson LP's and this one found me. Factory-installed USA parts, wiring, switches (57 Classics-sooo sweeeet) and such a nice sound and look. I added a Gibson branded 5-ply black pickguard, nickel bracket and older style top hat knobs. This combination reminded me of my Dad's '67 ES-330 a bit. The slim 60s neck is very nice. The private-owned shop did a great low setup and put new DR Blues on. The burst is a bit more subtle gradient than the red stripe effect -photo limitation. Fit and finish is flawless. I may add an amber switch tip and nickel cord plate soon. I like it and am having fun! http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Les-Paul/Tribute-Les-Paul-Standard.aspx
SNick Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Very Nice. Now smile for the nice man and say HELLO. Welcome.
LSAR Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 HNGD! That's a nice looking flame... Usually mixed colored plastic bugs me, but I like it here, congrats!
Fred Patton Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 That's a beauty - congrats! I'm a big believer that having an instrument find you is the best way. That's how I got my ES-175, too. Fred
DMZ Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Thanks all. Yeah, I went back and forth on the mixed. I thought.. it's a pickguard... put a creme one on if it doesn't fly. But it really does have that retro look to me. Took a little carving to make it fit, but no biggie. Play on!
RaSTuS Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Welcome to the forums DMZ, lovely geet you scored yourself there, congrats and HNGD.
midiman56 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Beauty, DMZ ... congrats! I've played that one at the store, and she sounds/plays as sweet as she looks! Jim
