JuanCarlosVejar Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 this song gave me the chills my hair stood on end : It kinda sucks to know that in the younger generations there will be no Willie Nelson's , Waylons, Kristofferson's or Johnnies only Biebers and Gagas . I feel blessed to still have been able to discover old country and legends of the past I love playing old country songs on my guitar and I really connect to what those songs sing about. Even though I wasn't there to see anyone or these guys in their prime the music lives on and the messages are still powerful ! JC
McDuff Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 My kind of song. As for the new era of music I don't think that is exactly fair to say it only has Beibers. A lot of really talented musicians from this generation are still making music in almost every imaginable genre. But this point has been argued back and forth a couple thousand times I suppose.
boozeball Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 There are a lot of guys out there carrying the outlaw torch, just takes a little effort to find 'em. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaBgLGlN36Y Here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADgCYjAtRUY
retrorod Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Yeah JC, I have been a large Waylon fan since the early 70's. First I had heard this ballad that you posted, though! Not my favorite Waylon ballad but good. This is one that I like and have seen him perform in mid-70's.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pms4j9dA8CA
zombywoof Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Ya left Townes off your list - he was always out there on the fringes and one heck of a songwriter. They are still out there ya just ain't likely to find them on a major record label. Not sure they would consider themselves outlaws as much as outsiders. Just a few Robert Earl Keen - Shades of Gray Tom Russell - Blue Wing http://youtu.be/zG1QokdY4NA Dave Alvin - Harlan County Line
