The 498R & 500T set in my Explorer are pretty hot, they do tight overdrive and distortion well and rolling off the volume cleans them up a bit but I have to say they are not very warm. Very modern sound for sure.

The best thing I did to tame the bite and add character was a Russian paper in oil capacitor.

The problem with paper in oil caps is that they are hygroscopic, and absorb moisture from the atmosphere.

What are your current pickups lacking?

Maybe, but not when they are encapsuled in aluminum, plus mine are NOS so if they've been around for decades and work just fine I think Iam safe. The Russian caps I bought are military specs, they will last a lifetime in a guitar.

That is the better question.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your Bich already has a preamp in it right? So it's already got lots of output. Have to looked as a good compressor pedal?

actually, no. the lower end model Bich guitars do not have preamps. but i will look into the comp unit.

Neal Moser has an awesome aftermarket site that has all kinds of hot rods for the import Bich guitars. the circuit board intrigues me, but he wants 250 for that. that's too rich for my blood.
