mud guy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I bought this nice peerless casino used a few weeks ago and just realized that the neck pickup might be installed backwards. Here's a pic, any thoughts? thanks Cal
brianh Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 No that's typical although that one looks particularly pronounced. The neck pickups aren't always correctly angled on Casinos. However, if you were to turn it around you would lose the reverse polarity hum cancelling effect when the switch is in the middle position. PS, are those flowers for me? You shouldn't have...

Pete B Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Looks like it was found in a parts bin, surely not designed for a casino.

LSAR Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Could the cover be removed and then reinstalled facing the other way?
LongMan Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 No that's typical although that one looks particularly pronounced. The pickup looks pretty normal to me. Got a similar one on my Elitist Casino. However on my Casino the top of the pickup is almost parallel to the strings. So whether the neck angle of this guitar is significantly different from my Elitist Casino, or the view angle of the photo makes it look worse than it really is.
Gunner Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Just for discussion sake, are you guys sure that rotating the pickup 180 degrees will eliminate the hum canceling effect in the middle switch position? I know that reversing the pickup leads will (I have done it), and I believe flipping the magnets will, but I don't think rotating the pickup has any effect because nothing is changing electrically or magnetically. I do agree the pickup is installed correctly.
damian Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 If you play that guitar upside down, the pickups will be backwards..........
Notes_Norton Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I don't know the reason for it, but both my Casino and Gibson ES-330 have the same tilt to the neck pickup. Must be designed that way.
