Gday guys, here's new video. In open G capo ist fret. "Meet John Doe"..Just a zoom Q3 recording so don't get up me too much for the sound quality. I'm a bit of a low-fi guy. But I think the vibe of the the song is captured ok.

And lyrics

Flows like mud, swells with pride

Tells you stories, blows dust in your eyes

Meet John Doe at the rivers edge

Flat down dreaming in a whiskey bed

From where he came, devil knows

A washed up fish In shipwreck’s clothes

Vasco da Gama, bent outta shape

Riding the bow wave to the hangover cape

Flows like mud, creeps in shade

Perfumes the grass where Rosalie lay

Meet John Doe, the working jack

Stole some magic

Now the magic’s turning black

Is he still breathing, doctor knows

Got a bad case of the talking crows

Vasco da Gama tied to the main

While Rosalie haunts him again and again

Flows like mud, swells with pride

Ties your hands while drowning girls cry

Meet John Doe at the river side

Face down dreaming on a downhill slide

From where he came devil knows

Rosalie’s king has lost his clothes

It’s a one sided rainbow,

A five sided ace

That ran out of magic

Rounding the cape

Hey.. I,m getting a 'contact high'.....

Great stuff. Deep and Dylanesque lyrics. I love the sea and sailor romanticism of it. It's just mysterious enuff to be a great song!

Bravo... [thumbup]

And that 'dissonance' is workin' for ya mate!

BTW...Tis been a long time since school and while re-calling the name Vasco Da Gama, I had to do a search to refresh my learning...The great Potugese explorer....very cool!

From where do you hail, flatbaroque? The land Down Under?

Thank fellers. Yea I'm from the wilds of Sydney suburbia. I was in South India once and went into this little Christian church in a town called Cochin. And there in front of the altar was the crypt of Vasco Da Gama. So it must have planted a seed that found it's way into a song. And as surprised as I was to see the erstwhile explorer's resting place I'm sure he'd be just as surprised to hear his goodself mentioned in a strange ballad of seafaring and life gone wrong on Youtube...haha......
