gotomsdos Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 It seems that J45 Historic Collections were made in 2005 ? The pics below show that a J45 has a label reading "0xxx1xxx" which shows it was made in 2001. URL: https://bbs.guitarchina.com/viewthread.php?tid=1121615&extra=&page=1 What I'm puzzled at is : 1, It has print logo (modern) but white button tuners, is it a J45 Historic Collection ? 2, The label has a pattern (I'v never seen with any other J45s) Thank you in advance.
EuroAussie Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Youre never going to buy that J-45, are you ... ?

Fwiw, my 2005 "Historic" J-45 has a modern print logo & white buttons but no pattern on the orange label.
ParlourMan Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 There will always be anomalies gotomsdos, this can be due to: custom runs (with slightly altered specs) standard productions modded to reflect custom run specs standard production runs which have had some repair work done with aftermarket parts... You've covered the details and specs of a fair few models and body shapes now, some variants too, so it's probably time to reverse the questions back to you, in order to help you the most, there's a simple question that needs answered: What guitar is it you actually are looking to buy? Tuners, trussrod covers, banners, block logo's etc... these have no bearing in sound, anybody claiming to be able to hear a difference from cosmetic specs is almost certainly talking nonsense. Artist models with slightly varied specs appeal to those looking to have the same guitar as an artist they like, or those who are looking for specs which an artist model happens to fulfil, nothing more, nothing less. To prove such a point on another forum I actually posted 2 clips recorded on the same guitar, painted them as having come from different guitars and yes, those with the 'special' ears were claiming to hear more definition, a greater clarity, or a proud projection from one clip over another, when I exposed the fact they were the same, recorded on the same settings within 5 minutes of each other... well, the thread went silent. Even on a Gibson forum, I'd be prepared to say that if I recorded a clip on a Kris Kristofferson SJ and claimed it was a J-45 standard there's not too many would disbelieve me, nor if I said a clip of a J-45 std was a clip of a Jackson Browne etc.... there's always the 'recording conditions' disclaimer etc.... All I can suggest is finding some models and buying the one which speaks to you, thus far it appears you're on a quest which is unlikely to end.

fortyearspickn Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 GtMsDs, Very interesting that you can use terms like 'wanna' while other parts or your posts seem to indicate you don't have a good handle on English. Simliarly, you indicate a burning desire to learn more about 'Gibson Accoustics' but now and then your posts seem to indicate you already know a lot more than many of us here. I'm curious, how do you explain these incongruities? While inscrutable might be a politically incorrect term, you certainly are mysterious!
Rambler Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Gibson went with the "historic" designation roughly 00 or 01 to 05, fwiw. A blanket term, it covered both the std reissue series (J45, J185) and special runs (orig. Jumbos, AJs). So that's basicly a J45 with earl 50s appts. And a pickup.
gotomsdos Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 ... Hey ! old buddy ParlourMan ! Was it ya that subtracted 2 damn bucks from my score ? What crime did I commit with the post? hahaha...
EuroAussie Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 If think people are diplomatically telling youre starting to become a bit of a pain in the butt with all those questions, who cant make decision ..;-) Hey ! old buddy ParlourMan ! Yeah, I've been learning English, but still not good enough, but I'm lucky enough to hunt a Ren J-35, one of 16 pieces around the globe, in a way luckier than an average Yankee, which maybe indicates (the phrase you like to use to me, hahaha) how MYSTERIOUS I am ! BTW, I have a book named Semiotic and Significs written by Charles S. Peirce (the first Yankee philosopher) and a British semanticist. I guess few folks here know even the 2 words (Semiotic and Significs), which maybe also enables me to look MYSTERIOUS ! hahahah..

Not me, man. I've never clicked the minus on anyone. Not really a feature I use. Also, the questions don't bother me.
