Bluemoon
What's the best transition to an explosive drum solo/intro. Here are my all time favorites: > Stairway to Heaven > In the Air Tonight > Eminence Front

rocketman
Well... everything Neil Peart ever did' date=' but....[/quote'] +1, but I think that Neil Peart would admit that his favorite is everything by Buddy Rich.
surfpup
ZZ Top (Frank Beard, drums) - La Grange.... busting out of the intro into the verse (you know the part I mean!) The James Gang (Jimmy Fox, drums)- Funk #49 (Gotta love the cowbell) Rush (Neil Peart, drums) - Best I Can (Damn, I love this song! It's a great riff, but the drums really make it move!) Of course talking about explosive drumming, anything with Keith Moon or Mitch Mitchell fits the bill, but that would make for a very long list! grampa
I suppose the intro to Beethoven's violin concerto is one of the most incredible bits of drumming ever - 4 simple beats to start it off - but in the rock area anything Moonie is definitive. brundaddy
Overkill (Motorhead), Angel of Death (Slayer), anything from "Beneath the Remains" (Sepultura... awesome Brazilian drumming), Finale (Anthrax), Symptom of the Universe (Black Sabbath), C30-C60-C90 Go (Bow Wow Wow... "the beat from Burundi")...
SRV-Zeppelin
Hmm, explosive drum solos? I'd have to say pretty much all of Dragonforce's songs (from what I've heard; I'm not a fan by any means) and anything that John Bonham ever did that qualifies as a "solo." Also "We're All to Blame" by Sum 41- awesome intro!

Ian Martin
If it counts, I've always thought "When the Levee Breaks" (Zeppelin) was simple but brilliantly executed. It sounds huge. If I was a hip-hop producer, I'd kill to sample that song. My guilty pleasure drum intro song would have to be "Easy Target" (blink-182). It's just some crazy-*** snare which explodes into a punk rock song with this surf vibe, but it ALWAYS gets me pumped up. Travis Barker is quite possibly the quintessential punk drummer and a modern day legend.

I don't know who Steve Millers drummer was but his songs always had great drumming IMO.
