cabba2203 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The 3-knob SG Special is back - interesting. That worn dark walnut finish is killer looking - nice guitar and great price! Congrats on your first SG!
Riffster Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Congrats, that's a good deal. Interesting that the controls are placed differently from previous versions of the special. I hope they offer a P90 version of this, I'd jump on that.
Buxom Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I really want an SG or an MM as my first Gibson. I'd probs get the MM though.
Rocky4 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Beautiful. A P-90 version with a wraparound would put you in the Townshend zone. It has a baked maple fretboard. I've never heard of that before.
Riffster Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Baked Maple is one of the alternatives Gibson has come up with due to the "Rosewood Incident"
Sinner 13 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I Just got my first SG as well so Congrats, you will love it!
4Hayden Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 GC's president's day sale? I guess it was,all I know it was listed at $899.00 and was on sell for $499.00
cabba2203 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Great looking SG, you got one with some nice figuring in the fretboard by the looks of your photos - sweetness!
4Hayden Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I Just got my first SG as well so Congrats, you will love it! Glad I found out about the new SG compared to the Les Paul,It's like the telecaster compared to the Stratocaster
milod Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm guessing the walnut may "ring" a bit more than mahogany. I'd prefer a master volume where my pinkie could control it... but that ain't really that much of a Gibson thing, I guess. ... but ... To me the SG is the ideal solidbody guitar regardless of slight variations in configuration. Some complain it's neck-heavy. I don't think so, but... Congrats, it's a nice looking piece that should play well regardless what style may be used. m
