cvansickle
Here are two of my Les Pauls, a Vintage Mahogany and a Special, each with an added Bigsby B5 tailpiece. Each mechanism used for mounting the Bigsby requires NO permanent mods to the guitar. The stock bushings for the stop tailpiece secure the mountings. The one on the left is the ZZ Guitarworks mounting bracket. I installed this device back in April. The ZZ system emulates the trapeze type of Bigsby in that it bolts at the guitar's end with the strap button. The one on the right I just installed yesterday. It's called the Vibramate. It's a horseshoe bracket and is made for a flat top guitar. I was going to put it on my SG, but I didn't realize that it would require a mod to the SG's pickguard. I sits flat on the guitar body, while the ZZ slopes with the guitar's arched top. I also like to use a roller saddle bridge with the Bigsby, and generous amounts of lubrication in the nut slots. As for the tone, both mounting systems enhance the sustain. The ZZ seems to enhance the guitar's acoustic properties, the Vibramate doesn't have that effect but it doesn't take away anything either.
