DestructorsKillMusic1982
I've been seeing these black Melody Maker single-coil pickup covers on Ebay that are the vintage style, with the "Gibson" script logo embossed on them. I'm getting my first Melody Maker (my 19th Gibson!) today, a 2007 single-cutaway with 1 single-coil; will these covers fit on it? I'm hoping to make it look more vintage, with a covered pickup and some gold tophat knobs.
Ryan H
They will most likely Not fit. The newer Melody Maker pickups actually use the slug coil of a Humbucker with a modified baseplate. The original Melody Maker pickups were actually made for Gibson's Lap Steels, and were slightly longer. Short answer: They won't fit.
DestructorsKillMusic1982
Ahh thanks for the answer I'm glad I didn't buy one, especially as I don't mind the stock single coil in the MM as it's something different!
